THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT BPW Canada urgess the Management of department stores in Canada, insofar as they have not already done so, to ensure that their women employees have equal opportunity with men employees for promotion and advancement and urges them to adopt Recommendation No. 63 of the Royal Commission on the Status of Women:Recommendation No. 63 pages 143, 144, read:We recommend that department stores:(a) ensure that women employees are considered for advancement on an equal basis with men;(b) investigate why, in areas where the staff is predominantly female, it is the practice to fill the senior positions with men; and(c) make a special effort to train more women employees for managerial positions.”Recommendation No. 64:”We recommend that retail stores review their practices to ensure that exploitation of part-time workers does not exist.””
