Strengthening Human Rights Commission – 2010

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that BPW Canada urges the Government of Canada to reaffirm its commitment to human rights and maintain existing language to section 13 (1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act governing the Canadian Human Rights Commission.FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that BPW Canada urges the Government of Canada to provide adequate resources (staffing and funding) to the Canadian Human Rights Commission to fulfill all aspects of its mandate, including the mandate to accept complaints regarding speech that incites hatred and contempt pursuant to section 13(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act which prohibits hate speech.
