THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT BPW Canada urges the Federal Government to provide funding programs available to victims and offenders whereby a mediator would mediate between willing parties with the goal of:! restoring relationships damaged by the crime,! helping the victim to come to terms with the trauma of the crime providing emotional reparation or restitution to the victim,! encouraging offenders to take some responsibility in repairing the harm that has been done,! helping the offender to understand the staggering and prolonged effects of crime.FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT BPW Canada urges the Provincial Organizations and local clubs to petition or lobby the appropriate provincial government to provide programs to victims and offenders whereby a mediator would mediate between willing parties with the goal of:! restoring relationships damaged by the crime,! helping the victim to come to terms with the trauma of the crime providing emotional reparation or restitution to the victim,! encouraging offenders to take some responsibility in repairing the harm that has been done,! helping the offender to understand the staggering and prolonged effects of crime.
