THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT BPW Canada urges the Government of Canada that recommendations 2, 11 and 38 of the Report of the Royal Commission on the Status of Women be implemented immediately.Recommendation 2That (a) both the Canada and Quebec Pension Plans be amended so that the spouse who remains at home can participate in the Plan, and (b) the feasibility be explored of (i) crediting to the spouse remaining at home a portion of the contributions of the employed spouse and those contributions made by the employer on the employed spouse’s behalf, and (ii) on an optional basis, permitting the spouse at home to contribute as a self-employed worker.Recommendation 11That the pay rates for nurses, dieticians, home economists, librarians and social workers employed by the Federal Government be set by comparing these professions with other professions in terms of the value of the work and the skill and training involved.Recommendation 38That the Federal Public Service Commission and Federal Government departments (a) introduce programs that will ensure the consideration of secretaries for administrative positions, and (b) open up intermediate and senior administrative positions to women in traditionally female professions.
