THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT BPW Canada recommends to each of the nine Chartered Banks of Canada the adoption of the procedures recommended by the Royal Commission in its Recommendation No. 62, namely (see pages 141, 142), that Chartered Banksmake it known that they intend to give women equality of opportunity;eliminate the practice where it exists, of requiring a longer attachment period for women than for men before promotion to management;ensure that they have a record of women qualified for promotion to be considered as vacancies occur;provide more opportunities for women to participate in both in-service and outside training programs with the objective of their constituting at least 25% of those trained by 1975; andencourage their women employees to improve their knowledge and capabilities through management training courses, such as those of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, in reasonable expectation that successful completion of these course will lead to opportunities for promotion.
