THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT BPW Canada urges the Minister of Justice to amend Section 143 of the Criminal Code of Canada to include the definition of sexual assault as recommended by the Law Reform Commission of Canada; namely,Everyone who assaults a person with the intent a) to have sexual intercourse with the person, orb) to commit any other sexual act on the person is guilty of an offence of sexual assault.FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Criminal Code of Canada be amended to replace the offence of rape with three categories of sexual assault; namely,a) sexual assaultb) sexual assault causing bodily harm or while armed with a weapon, andc) sexual assault with intent to maim or endanger life.
