THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that BPW Canada urges the Government of Canada, through the Federal Minister of Justice, to add culture based abuse by a family member as a form of discrimination under the Canadian Human Rights Act. FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that BPW Canada urges the Government of Canada to instruct the Canadian Human Rights Commission to develop guidelines that include culture based discrimination by a family member as a form of discrimination under the Act and to have both the Human Rights Commission and Citizen and Immigration Canada engaged in developing/promoting a national education program. FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that BPW Canada urges the Government of Canada to instruct the Canadian Human Rights Commission and Citizenship and Immigration Canada and to develop a national education program encouraging women who are victims of culture based abuse of their rights to bring their cases before a provincial or federal Human Rights Commission
