THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that BPW Canada urges the Government of Canada to:Provide and maintain funding for current community social programs.Provide information to any government department concerning community programs similar to the Headstart program in Moncton, New Brunswick.FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that BPW Canada urges the Government of Canada to:Commit itself to support research and evaluation over an extended period of time; e.g. 30 years, to determine the costs, benefits and effectiveness of efforts to prevent crime through social development, and to publish the result of the research and evaluation projects.To support the recommendation of the Twelfth Report of the Standing Committee on justice and the Solicitor General (the Homer Report) that the Government of Canada increase funding for crime prevention.
