THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT BPW Canada urges the Minister of Justice to amend Section 251 of the Canadian Criminal Code to provide that:1. The World Health Organization definition of health be adopted and incorporated into the section of the Criminal Code permitting therapeutic abortions;2. The therapeutic abortion committee approval required in Section 251 be abolished and that a therapeutic abortion be permitted on the approval of one medical doctor.3. A therapeutic abortion be permitted to be performed where a pregnancy threatens the life or health or the woman.4. Provision be made for abortions to be performed in medial clinics by qualified and licensed medical doctors as well as in accredited hospitals.
