President Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla (2016 – 2018) and First Vice-President Linda Davis (2016-2018) attended the International Board meeting at Congress. BPW Canada qualified for 3 votes/delegates at the General Assembly Sessions of Congress.
At Congress, BPW Canada was recognized for its work towards the Empowerment of Women and its contributions to BPW International’s objectives to advance and advocate for women.
BPW Ontario was awarded third place in the “BPW International Power to Make a Difference Through Advocacy – Excellent Advocacy for Women”. BPW Ontario’s work with the Ontario Government’s Gender Wage Gap Steering Committee was noted.
BPW Canada was represented by members from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.

BPW Canada partnered with the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)’s Share Her Journey campaign to champion female storytellers and support women in the film industry. During the 2017 TIFF, BPW Canada hosted the Reel Women Helping Women Celebration event at the Ritz Carlton Toronto to demonstrate their commitment in showcasing women’s achievements in the film industry and close the gender gap in male-dominated industries and professions. At the event, BPW Canada presented the BPW Canada Recognition Award to Erika Olde, BPW Grand Cayman member, Co-Producer of “Woman Walks Ahead” and Founder of Black Bicycle Entertainment.
BPW Canada celebrated Canada’s 150th Birthday at their AGM and Banquet.
Post-AGM, many BPW Canada members travelled from Moncton to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, the birthplace of Canada’s Confederation that included a guided tour of the Birthplace of Confederation. BPW Canada President, Jenny Gulamani-Abdulla, presented Visionary Awards as BPW Canada members took their seat around the Confederation Chamber Table in Charlottetown, P.E.I.
