BPW Winnipeg Hosts a Mayoral Forum
BPW Winnipeg hosted an All Candidate Mayoral Forum on Tuesday October 14, 2014 at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg Manitoba. All candidates were in attendance and asked to speak on three questions:
- Given that women have been under represented at council in the past, as Mayor what will you do to ensure the inclusion of women's voices in the decision making processes at city council and ultimately the future of our city.
- Given that women are the backbone of small and home business in Winnipeg - as Mayor, what will you do to support and provide incentives for women in small business.
- Given that poverty, lack of access to education, employment, job training and safe housing make women vulnerable to experiencing violence - and given that all citizens have a right to live in dignity and safety and have a living wage, as Mayor what is your Strategy to engage all levels of government in addressing these issues in the city of Winnipeg.
From L to R: Linda Pleskach, BPW Winnipeg President, Karen Burwash, BPW Manitoba President, Paula Havixbeck, Mayoral Candidate, Judy Wasylycia, Mayoral Candidate and Colleen Allan, BPW Canada President.
