BPW Calgary: International Day of the Girl Awareness Campaign
BPW Calgary celebrated the world’s first International Day of the Girl and the Honourable Rona Ambrose congratulated the club for this campaign to raise awareness. You can read the media release issued on October 10th by the Status of Women Canada.
This initiative was led by Minister Rona Ambrose and the evening was comprised of a forum which included: Jennifer Le a first year engineering student, Dana Bjornson, BPW member and Engineer and Architecure Design, Iman Abdulla, grade 11 student, who talked about modern day slavery. Dr. Ursula Steele was the key note speaker, Principal of the Alice Jamieson Girls Academy. Pat Cochrane Board of Trustee Chair for the Calgary Board of Education. |

Jeanette Arsenault: The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal Recipient
International singer and song writer who authored the BPW International adopted anthem "Women of the World" was presented the Queen's Jubilee Award in Belleville Ontario, Canada on August 23, 2012.

Jeanette Arsenault, a staple of the music and arts community in Prince Edward County. She volunteers her time and musical talents with many charitable causes in the County, provincially, nationally, and internationally. She has also volunteer with the 60 Million Girls organization which empowers women and girls through education and The Invisible Army which supports the families and communities of Canadian soldiers. “What a wonderful way to create a bridge between our cultures at a time when I am presenting my Acadian heritage to the world with my new show, ‘I’m An Acadian-Canadian, eh!’,” Arsenault said. “I happily accept this medal in the spirit of celebration and reconciliation.” For full article; click here |

New Club in Ottawa Amanda McLaren then began looking for a networking opportunity to fuel her career, and after a Google search discovered that the Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women was hosting its 2011 AGM in Ottawa. Less than a year later, Ms. McLaren is the new president of the Ottawa club that will officially launch on May 10 at a ceremonial event in the House of Commons.

BPW Saskatoon Honours Women in the Community |
Over the past 12 years, the International Women's Day (IWD) Dinner and Awards hosted by the Business and Professional Women's Club Saskatoon, Canada, has evolved into the province's largest IWD event.
The Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW) Saskatoon is a non-partisan and non-sectarian network of business and professional women. The Saskatoon organization is one of six charter clubs of the Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs and belongs to BPW International, an influential organization with membership that spans five continents. BPW's vision is to improve the social and economic status of working women, encourage women to pursue political office and lobby all levels of government to effect positive change.
